HRC Fertility uses RI Witness, an electronic witnessing system designed to help prevent sample mix-ups in the laboratory. The technology uses radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags to track eggs, sperm, and embryos at each step, adding another layer of verification alongside our existing safety checks.
With RI Witness, every dish and tube is monitored as it moves through the lab, and the system alerts staff if anything does not match the expected patient identity. This supports a controlled environment for your reproductive materials and reflects our commitment to careful, detail-oriented care.
Needle-free IVF, developed by our own Dr. Rachel Mandelbaum, is designed to lessen the anxiety and discomfort of frequent injections some of our patients experience. The approach uses a simple technology that decreases the number of injections directly into the skin, while using established IVF protocols. Your physician will review whether this method is appropriate for you and explain how it compares to standard injections.
Egg freezing allows patients to preserve eggs for potential use later, which may be helpful for personal, medical, or professional reasons. At HRC Fertility, your care team will explain the stimulation process, egg retrieval, and storage, as well as how frozen eggs can be used in the future. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a procedure in which prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. IUI may be recommended in certain situations, such as mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, or for single parents and some LGBTQIA+ patients using donor sperm. Your physician will discuss whether IUI is a reasonable option based on your specific circumstances.
HRC Fertility participates in selected research and clinical studies that aim to improve understanding of fertility treatments and outcomes. When appropriate, eligible patients may be invited to consider taking part. Participation is always optional, and your physician will explain any study details, potential risks, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a specialized IVF procedure used for severe male infertility, where an embryologist injects a single sperm directly into an egg using a fine glass needle. This method is recommended for cases with poor fertilization history in standard IVF, or issues such as low sperm count, poor motility, abnormal morphology, or obstructions like vasectomy. While highly effective, ICSI involves more handling and carries a slight risk (less than 2%) of egg damage. It offers hope to couples facing unique fertility challenges by bypassing traditional barriers to conception.
